After spending this (very early) morning with my twin nephews, I was reminded of a piece I wrote when they were itty-bitty, and children were the scariest things I could think of. Yes, it’s that happy, happy time: The neighborhood is quiet (at least until 3PM), the air has that familiar chill, and…did I mention how quiet it is? Now that the kiddies are back to school, I do hope they are eating something better than what passes as “food” in most school cafeterias.
